What is an arm lift (Brachioplasty)?

Arm Lift Surgery Thailand

Loose upper arm skin is a very common cosmetic concern. Typical causes include significant weight loss, pregnancy or aging. Often, once a person loses weight the skin tissue can no longer recover, which leads to flaps of loose skin hanging from the upper arms.

Unfortunately, this loose skin doesn’t respond to exercise either, no matter how hard you do it. Indeed, many women who have gone through pregnancy or lost weight suffer significantly from aesthetically unpleasing saggy upper arms to the extent that wearing a swimsuit or a sleeveless party dress seems like an impossible idea.

Arm lift surgery - what’s involved?

The operation begins with an incision placed on the inside of the upper arm to remove sagging skin surgically. The incision length depends on the amount of excess skin, typically extending to just above the elbow. The operation can be performed under general anaesthesia or sedation. Local anaesthesia may be sufficient if only a small amount of skin needs to be removed. Following the operation, your arms will be wrapped in an elastic bandage or a compression garment to minimize swelling. For the same reason, you should elevate your arms with pillows when resting. Light exercises, stretching, and moving your fingers will also help reduce swelling. Although swelling cannot be prevented entirely, this swelling subsides relatively quickly.
